What is the Lord’s Supper? Who can partake in it? What is meant by the elements being Christ’s body and blood? Why is faith necessary in receiving the elements? Does communion still matter?
On this episode of The Podechesis Podcast, the guys talk about questions 96-97 in John Wesley’s Revision of the Westminster Shorter Catechism that deal with the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. They will discuss the frequency of communion, who is able to come to the table, as well as why communion should be an important part of our regular worship experience.

Question, Answer, Scripture Proof for # 96
A: What is the Lord’s Supper?
Q: The Lord’s Supper is a sacrament in which, by giving and receiving bread and wine, according to Christ’s appointment, his death is showed forth; and the worthy receivers are not after a corporal and carnal manner, but by faith, made partakers of his body and blood, with all his benefits, to their spiritual nourishment, and growth in grace.
Scripture Proofs: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; 1 Corinthians 10:16
Question, Answer, Scripture Proof for #97
Q: What is required to the worthy receiving of the Lord’s Supper?
A: It is required of them that would worthily partake of the Lord’s Supper, that they examine themselves of their knowledge to discern the Lord’s body, of their faith to feed upon him, of their repentance, love, and new obedience; lest, coming unworthily, they eat and drink judgment to themselves.
Scripture Proofs: 1 Corinthians 11:28-29; 2 Corinthians 13:5; 1 Corinthians 11:31; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 1 Corinthians 5:7-8; 1 Corinthians 11:28-29
